24H Series / 12H Hungaroring / Teams / Eligible Cars and Class Overview
Eligible Cars and Class Overview: Hungary 2010

version: 29 July 2010 (click here to download this overview in pdf)
Our philosophy was and still is, to have an international and sportive race were small and big teams enjoy racing together. The international atmosphere (over 30 different nationalities) added a lot to the sportive character as well as the mix of amateurs, semi-professional and professional teams.

In order to keep a healthy mix of cars and teams and to further increase competition, we have made some adjustments in the classes for: 12HHungary2010 & Dunlop24HDubai2011.Two separate classes for Porsche 996 Cup and Porsche 997 Cup are added. Another main change is class A6. This class is extended, with a big variety of GT3-cars and therefore no longer limited to 4000cc.

This will increase the number of teams who will have the opportunity to compete for the overall victory, of either the 12H of Hungary or the Dunlop 24H of Dubai.

Below a summary of amendments to the classes in order to keep a healthy mix of cars and teams and to further increase competition:
  • Class A2 (1600-2000cc): turbo engine up to 1600cc added (e.g. BMW Mini)
  • Class A3T (turbo petrol engines up to 2600cc): was 2500cc
  • Class A5 (3000-3500cc): basically only for Touring cars (which means the BMW Z4 (3,2L) will be assigned to class A6
  • New class for Porsche 996 Cup added
  • New class for Porsche 997 Cup added
  • Class SP1 is cancelled, Silhouette cars will be assigned to must suitable class
  • Reference lap time and refuelling amount further balanced in class SP2-GT3A
  • Class A6 (GT3 cars): extended with GT3 cars above 4000cc (previously limited to 4L)

Class A6
Class A6 is extended with (mainly GT3) cars, which fits from performance point of view. The best performance in this class (previously up to 4000cc) was previously set by cars like Porsche RSR (2min02 – 2min03 in qualification) and Porsche Cup S (2min03 - 2min04 in qualification).

The goal is to maintain this performance-level of 2min03 – 2min04 and NOT to increase this performance level any further. Therefore the goal is to accept a wider variety of GT-cars (also above 4000cc) which fits to this performance-level.Below table shows the Balance of Performance regulations of a wide range of GT cars. To maximize the competition in this class and to avoid GT-cars being too fast (the expected qualifying level is approx. 2min02 – 2min03), the organizer reserves the right to adjust below BOP in any kind at any time of the event.GT cars
